Nominee. 2020 Joop Swart Masterclass

The World Press Photo Foundation is pleased to announce the 196 nominees for the Joop Swart Masterclass, from which the 12 participants will be selected. We would like to thank all our international nominators who helped highlight the nominees. The selected participants will be announced on 30 June.
Of the 198 nominees, 50,5% identify as female, 49% as male and 0,5% as non-binary. In terms of global regions, 13% are from South America, 11% are from Oceania & Southeast Asia, 12% are from North & Central America, 23% are from Europe, 21% are from Asia and 20% are from Africa.

Koral Carballo

Koral Carballo ( b. Poza Rica, Veracruz, Mexico in 1987) She tells stories related to identity, violence and territory; dissolving frontiers between photojournalism and visual arts. She began her career as a photojournalist in 2009 and in 2016 she decided to leave the local media to investigate her own long-term projects. She is currently working as a photojournalist, documentary photographer, visual storyteller and freelance artist.
